Places to visit in the area |
| There are several chateau within a short drive or cycle from the gite. These include the Chateau La Roche Courbone and La Chateau de Crazanne. Both are open to the public and are very interesting.
Cognac is about 35 minutes drive away, the major Cognac producers all have site tours available, some of them we have tried(hic!). The historic towns of Saintes, Rochefort and Saint Jean D'Angely are all within 15 to 20 minutes drive and provide either Roman and maritime historic sites.
The area is ideal for bird watching and fishing and if you are a music lover, there is a big blues festival every year in Cognac during the month of July.
There is something for everybody in this interesting region.
