Your holiday guide to the Gouffre de Padirac

 The Gouffre de Padirac also known as The Devils Doorway is located in the Lot and is a spectacular chasm some 75 metres in diameter and 103 metres deep. At the bottom of the chasm is a river where you can take a boat tour of the caves covering a distance of about 2 km some of which is on foot. These are probably the best and most interesting caves we have visited as they have some beautiful natural formations and the view from the bottom of the chasm is really quite earie. The tour will take about 1 1/2 hours. Make sure you remember to take a coat or jumper because it is quite cold down there, especially if you have just left the mid summer sunshine above.
The caves are open from 8.30am till 6.30pm in the summer months and the queues can be quite long at peak periods.
