What is GPS? |
| GPS stands for Global Positioning System and as it's name implies, it is used to tell you your exact position on the globe (world's surface) to an accuracy of about 5 metres. I could go on at length explaining how it works but unless you have a particular interest in knowing how it works there is no point in knowing, in the same way that you don't need to know how electricty works in order to use a light bulb. If you are on this page because you would like more information about how GPS works then I found the books below to be a great help. You can also download the guide from Garmin 'GPS for beginners' . If you are here because you are not sure if you will be able to use a GPS then don't worry, buy the unit that most suits your requirements then read the user manual, you'll find that they are very user friendly and made so that even technophobes can work them. |
