Places to visit in the area
Brantôme - A beautiful town situated on an island in the middle of the River Dronne, it has been called "the Venice of Perigord". Along with the numerous shops, cafes and restaurants, there are riverboat rides, canoeing and troglodyte caves to visit. St Jean de Cole - Officially listed as "one of France's prettiest villages" and quite rightly so in our opinion, for anyone visiting the area it is a must see. Thiviers - The hub of the community, a busy little market town famous for it's winter fairs. The Saturday market sells anything from foie gras, trout and truffles to strawberries, apples and walnuts that are all locally produced. Perigueux - It has all the facilities of a modern town and is the capital of the province. Dominated by its Byzantine cathedral on the banks of the River l'Isle, it offers visitors the chance to sample the regions gastronomy.
